Part of Europe, Moldova has a rich history. Being located in the contact area between different cultural and historical - Carpatho-Balkan, Central European and Eurasian - over several millennia harmoniously diverse cultural traditions of Proto and the most ancient branches of Indo, including the the Thracians, Slavs, Celts, Goths, Huns. Along the way, they got specific and unique features. Moldova there is a lot of historical and archaeological monuments (about eight thousand), whose cultural and historical value is part of the overall European human values.Moldova has been inhabited since ancient times. Numerous archaeological remains confirm that people inhabit these places since the lower Paleolithic Age (about 500,000 years ago). Existence of Geto-Dacian civilization dates back to centuries I and VI. , which was prevalent in all Moldovian areas. Starting with 105 BC., following the victories of Trajan over the Dacians, this population was Romanized, which takes from victorious the language and culture of Roman Empire. After evacuation of the Roman legions from the provinces (in 271, during Emperor Aurelian), begins era "of migratory peoples (Goths, Huns, Avars, Slavs), ending up in 1359 the Moldovan feudal state, whose founder is considered Bogdan I.

In 1812, as a result of the Russo-Turkish Peace Treaty from Bucharest, the eastern part of Moldova, located between the Prut and Dniester( Nistru), with the name Bessarabia was annexed to the Russian Empire, as Russian province until 1918. In 1918, the supreme organ of state power in Bessarabia, Country Advice, deciding land union with Romania, feeling that takes until 1940, when, as a result of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact of 1939, is annexed by the Soviet Union. As a territorial unit in the USSR, worked until the last decade of the XX centuries. On August 27, 1991, Moldova became independent and sovereign state.
